The Days Leading Up To Her Photo Shoot

The boudoir influencers and I have had our first photo shoot for 2020 a week before the Fourth of July holiday weekend. One of my influencers is Ms. B. She may seem quiet at times, but when she speaks you need to listen with intent to what she has to say. She shares her story of the days leading up to our first shoot. I asked for her permission to share it here. Below is a post she shared on Instagram.

"At the beginning of the year, I signed up to become a brand ambassador/boudoir influencer for the incredibly talented @bbquinnportrait. A couple of weeks before the first photo shoot, my husband asked me for a divorce. It was completely out of the blue. It broke me. I felt lower than thought possible, despite his many attempts at assuring me that his decision had nothing to do with me. (He has some mental health challenges stemming from childhood trauma that should have been addressed long ago. I was unaware that he hadn't been addressing them, because he said he was. He is now taking time to figure things out, but unfortunately thinks he needs to not be in a relationship while doing so.)

I knew these photo shoots would be showing me in a vulnerable physical state, but I had no idea the vulnerable mental and emotional state I would be in. Going to the shoot required a lot of pep talks-from myself to myself. But during the shoot, I felt truly empowered for the first time since he left. I felt like maybe there was no accident that I signed up for this program months ago.

I'll be sharing images through out the year, along with my experiences during the photo shoots and during the healing process. I hope that my updates can help someone else who is hurting. (These photos are not intended to be sexual in nature, but if you're offended by the female body, you may want to go ahead and unfollow.)

Women: love yourself. Prioritize yourself. Empower one another to do the same.

Anyone dealing with their own struggles with mental health or trauma: love yourself. Prioritize yourself. Remember that your emotions are valid. And I encourage you to find someone to talk to.--There is no shame in therapy or meds."
