Fearless is a boudoir portrait series that features 40 women over the age of 30, where they share their tales of courage. The women who participate in the series share their struggles that they have overcome and now they’re celebrating, sharing, and inspiring their stories for those who are currently going through a struggle of their own to show that there is light on the other side. Here’s a participant who shares her story in her own words.
Learning lessons along the way made me fearless. It makes me feel ok with moving forward anyway, but it’s overcoming all the bullshit stuff. All the things I thought I couldn’t do, but then I tried and I overcame them. All the things that people said I couldn’t do, but then I did. It’s fear of what I will regret versus the fear of doing whatever it is. I’m not totally fearless, but I’m getting close.
I wanted to do this photo shoot for a couple of reasons. One is confronting an old demon and wanting to rewrite the narrative around my body and around what it would be like to capture (photograph) it. I wasn’t sure if I would be comfortable with it. I love what Bethany has done with women in general. I’m so pro women empowerment that what she does and what Bethany captures, I wanted to do that.
You will not die nor will you catch fire for trying to do something new and scary. Those are the worst case scenarios in my mind and if those aren’t going to happen, then go for it! What do you have to lose?”
