Fearless is a boudoir portrait series that features 40 women over the age of 30, where they share their tales of courage. The women who participate in the series share their struggles that they have overcome and now they’re celebrating, sharing, and inspiring their stories for those who are currently going through a struggle of their own to show that there is light on the other side. Here’s a participant who shares her story in her own words.
“Fearless to me means that I speak up even if my voice shakes, and that I honor my personal boundaries in order to keep my cup full. When I read about this opportunity, I immediately resonated with the spirit of the campaign - honoring one’s journey and loving yourself to life as a result of fearlessness. Healing is a journey, and sometimes it is hard. Always it is worth it as the view keeps getting better. Remember what you wanted to be when you grew up. Remember what made you happy as a child. Then bring that hope and emotion back to life.
I overcame suicidal depression, and became a family therapist to pay forward my healing having turned pain to power. Decades ago I attempted suicide, and was in ICU for three days, at one point was “brought back” - the words an ICU nurse used.
It became my hope and goal to heal because I had children. I had a loving obligation to heal for them. So. I leaned in to love and committed to making better choices.
I became a reliable and consistent loving mother and earned my masters degree in family therapy. Now I support others on their healing journey as one who has been there. I fell in love with my life, and I am committed to staying here.”
