Fearless is a boudoir portrait series that features 40 women over the age of 30, where they share their tales of courage. The women who participate in the series share their struggles that they have overcome and now they’re celebrating, sharing, and inspiring their stories for those who are currently going through a struggle of their own to show that there is light on the other side. Here’s a participant who shares her story in her own words.
Fearless means having confidence in yourself. Not being scared of anything, which I’m not! I did this photo shoot to celebrate turning 60. The last 17 years being on my own, living on my own, being at the wrong addresses if you get what I mean. I have been taking care of my mother throughout some of those years.
I’ve lost myself. I didn’t think I was beautiful, sexy, or desirable. With women my age and older there’s so much emphasis placed for us to look younger, which of course those products don’t work. I’ve tried them! However, in the last few years I’ve learned to love myself and become comfortable in my own skin. I know that I’m desirable. This photo shoot will be a reminder of just how beautiful, sexy, and uniquely I’m made.
The best advice I could give to other women is to just push through the fear. If it scares you, do it! It could be the best thing of your life. Being on my own has actually made me fearless. It’s scary to be on your own, being a woman in a man’s world. You have to think like a man and sometimes perform like a man. But at the same time you have to be a woman too.
